Greenskin War
For as long as history has been recorded, orc clans have existed in the realm of giants. With each claiming a part of land to call their own. While a savage species, they have always kept to unspoken rules. Particularly if a clan says this is their land, the others would respect that claim. Over centuries, they has been skirmishes at borders but that is to be expected by a species that loves to battle. But that all changed when Grumth was killed.
Grumth was an ancient orc, living three times as long as any other orc and unbeaten in combat for decades. For that reason and many more, he was seen as the most powerful of all orc kind, earning him the title of king. Grumth could put fear into the hearts of any orc, duel anyone he saw fit and ruled with a green with some order of structure in a seemingly unstructured society. Which is why news of his death shocked many of the brutish greenskins. Finally meeting his demise under mysterious circumstances.
The lack of a king left a void of power amongst the orcs, a void that needed to be filled. And so clan leader bagan challenging one another for dominance. Generals challenging leaders and soldiers challenging generals. Soon after the death of King Grumth, orcs of the giant realm had erupted into war, the greenskin war.
It was blood thirsty and barbaric. Orc vs orc killing each other on well walked pathways, clearings of forests and rampaging into camps in the middle of the night. Goblins were dragged in the fight, partly to increase numbers, partly to spy on other orcs but mostly because they were more effective to throw than rocks. For years war waged on, causing the deaths of nearly all known orcs.
The greenskin war finally came to an end when a single clan leader remained, Ghork Senior. The last clan leader to survive the massacre and crowned himself the new king of the orcs. Using his powers of influence and recognised position of power and strength, Ghork Senior spent the rest of his life reuniting the orcs under one major clan. A single unit that now strikes fear across the realm of giants, an army of organised orcs that call themselves the green horde.
