the large wolf pack, have so far stayed in the north out of sight, and have not been seen for decades, but now they have returned, it creates fear and terror in the population, What does the king want with mercenary soldiers?

Are Ulf the wolf  parents, among these wolves.
Ulfs mother, the beautiful "Runa" the wolf mother ,is she one of these wolves, and has given up Ulf as a foundling because she wants a better future for her son than being a mercenary?
