Player Options & Character Creation
Races / Peoples -
The world of Vilra-shal is vast; the races documented by scholars are linked below. Pick from one of the ordinary peoples found here or one of the rarer peoples found here. Once you have chosen a people that your character will be from - please refer to this book to give your character the correct stats - Elf & an Orc had a Little Baby 1 & 2 (found in the discord server under "Third-Party Books In Use")Classes & Subclasses -
Classes are primarily chosen from the official D&D sourcebooks; an additional two can be found in the other books mentioned below - please speak to me about choosing one of these before proceeding. Pick from one of the classes found here. Subclasses can be chosen from the official D&D sourcebooks, Grim Hollows Player Guide or Steinhardt's Guide To The Eldritch Hunt. (Both of these can be found in the discord server under "Third-Party Books In Use")Backgrounds -
Homebrew backgrounds are fine, but if you have correctly followed Elf & an Orc had a Little Baby 1 & 2, you shouldn't need to add this.Backstory / Character Info -
The more information you can produce regarding your character will assist you in playing, as well as your fellow players and DM. Related NPCs, relationships, locations, likes, dislikes, fears etc, can all help build your character. While there is no limit on how much information you can produce, I ask that you boil rough information down to a single page with important info that is easy for you to refer to. Below are some rough questions to get you started. I would also strongly recommend watching some videos in the "Character Creation" section on the Discord server. Upbringing - Family, names, where are they now? Location born, kind of place it was, etc. Why are you travelling? For money? or fame? The thrill? To save someone? Ect What's an important decision your character has had to make? How did that make them feel? Which school to go to? To fight or run? To steal or beg? Things that might change a person, especially in their younger years Do they have a personal task they are setting out to complete? To become the greatest warrior, find a lost love/relative, deliver your master's final wish, etc. Once you have gathered all the info, please send me all you have. Your information will allow me to integrate your character into the world and give me ideas for possible quests for your character.Final Bits -
Ideally, creating your character should be a process, and while it doesn't have to be long, I wouldn't leave it until the last minute. I also ask that you have a dialogue with me as the DM so that you can bounce ideas off me as well as ask any questions that you might have about the campaign, world or general playing. D&D Beyond - We will use it to manage characters; creating your character on this should be done with the DM to ensure all players use the correct settings.
