Tierkara or Nightshade Elves
The Nightshade Elves are a reclusive and wary people who prefer the company of their own and the beasts of the wilderness. They have a unique ability to adapt to their environments, causing tangible physical changes in their forms to better suit their homes. For example, living in the tundra may cause their hair to turn white and their skin to change color, granting them resistance to the cold. Living in a desert may cause their skin to darken, granting them resistance to the heat. This adaptation has made them hardy and well-suited to living in even the most extreme environments.
The Nightshade Elves have a strong connection to nature and the spirits of the wild.
While not hostile to outsiders, they are highly suspicious of strangers and tend to keep to themselves. Their settlements are hidden away in the darkest parts of the wilds, often built into the forest floor or the lower branches of great trees. They are skilled at camouflaging their homes, making them nearly invisible to outsiders. The Nightshade Elves are hunters by nature and are very skilled at tracking and taking down their prey. They are also expert survivalists, able to live off the land with minimal resources. They have a deep respect for the beasts of the wilderness and often form close bonds with them.
Despite their reclusive nature, the Nightshade Elves are not entirely isolated. They are known to be open to trade and friendship with outsiders, but only on their terms. They are a kind people, but their experiences with outsiders have made them wary and cautious. Visitors to their communities are expected to show respect and reverence to the natural world, and any harm to the wilderness is met with swift and severe punishment.
The Nightshade Elves are a fascinating people, with a deep understanding of the natural world and an innate connection to the spirits of the wild. While they may be mysterious and reclusive, those who are able to earn their trust are rewarded with fierce loyalty and unwavering friendship.
However, the Tierkara do have a secret that they try to avoid at all cost. For as a Tierkara grows and matures they become connected to the environment around them changing more and more until they are perfectly suited for life there. Normally this is not an issue, but every now and then a group of Tierkara will settle where great evil exists. This evil can corrupt the natural world around it and by extension can corrupt the people themselves, creating a very evil and sinister clan of Nightshade Elves.

Trance: Elves don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The common word for such a meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Enhance Darkvision: Because of your life in the darkest parts of the wilds you have uncanny vision in the dark. You can see in dim light within 90 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Adaptive Genetics: Your Tierkara genetics grant you the ability to adapt to your environment at an alarming rate. This can result in a variety of different effects, whether it is resistance to the cold, or heat, or being better camouflaged within your environment.
