Langstad
Langstad is a city that has grown around a well-traveled crossroads, located between two large forests. The city is mainly comprised of humans, with some half-elves, who live a poor existence. The nearest landmark is a very large tree covered in clear stones. It is said that the tree can gauge a persons morality and will warn the people of impending evils.
The city is heavily guarded by the Felle Guard, who are known for their strictness and brutality towards citizens. The guards force citizens to carry licenses and travel permits, and any breach of laws is met with hard labor, incarceration, or public execution. Magic is highly restricted in Langstad and any magic users are reviled by the guards, who look for any excuse to punish them. Crime is also heavily punished in the city and is seen as an ugly stain on humanity.
Despite the strict laws and heavy-handed guards, the city has a population of around 10,000 people. The citizens of Langstad live in poverty, struggling to make ends meet. The city's main exports are lumber and minerals, which are mined in the nearby mountains.
