The Hruggek Hunters were a relatively popular gladiator team in Blackburn, gaining recognition in underground fighting pits. They were formed as a two man team in 1594, founded by two
Bugbear brothers named Groll and Ghar. After they witnessed a rather large bugbear named Brakk beat a Goliath to death with his bare hands. He joined the team in 1595, and they began to fight in both legal and illegal fights all around Petrea. They gained notoriety for cheating however, and they were barred from fighting in
Coldhall after their opponents had all of their gear mysteriously break during the fight.
Death and Dissolution
Their tendency to deploy underhanded tactics finally caught up with them in 1607, when they signed up to fight in the seventh
Blackburn Annual Fighting Festival. They were slated to fight
The Scraps, a new team, in the first round. They decided to wait outside a tavern the group was at and ambush them on the way out, hoping to intimidate or disable them before the fight. They were caught by
Jonah Willard, who shapeshifted into a bugbear and discovered their plan. The Scraps then snuck out a back exit, and ambushed them as they waited to spring their trap. Groll was stabbed in the back by
Jonah Willard, and then stabbed through the top of his skull and bottom of his jaw by Jonah, who revealed himself as the bugbear they had met earlier as he killed Groll. Then, as Ghar yelled out and charged Jonah,
Kotal threw a chain around Ghar's head and arm and wrenched it violently, decapitating Ghar and ripping his arm off. Brakk was enraged and struck Jonah so hard with his club that Jonah flew five feet away and almost died. Then, as he attempted to finish Jonah off,
Grim smashed his great hammer into Brakk's shoulder, breaking his arm violently. Grim then put down his hammer and beat Brakk to the brink of death with his fists. This was the permanent end of the Hruggek Hunters, because though Brakk is slowly recovering, his arm had to be amputated and he is blind in his left eye.
