Structure

Ancient Orders

The Allysium military is smaller than most, but is made up of three highly skilled divisions, the Silver Order, the Golden Order, and the Platinum Order. These divisions are each led by their own small council, and each council has a general that acts as the head and representative of the council. These generals all make up their own council together, called the Shrouded Council. To be accepted into the military one must go through six months of training, and the talent demonstrated in this training determines whether they belong in the Silver Order or Golden Order. Every order requires at least basic magical ability, and magical skill is highly valued, to the extent that it will usually help determine the rank of each soldier. Upon being accepted into one of these orders, they must go through one year of further training unique to the order they are in.

The Silver Order

The Silver Order is in charge of defense in Allysium, and is generally considered to be the easiest Order to get into. This is the largest order, and it makes up around 60% of Allysium's forces. The Silver Order handles all conflict on Allysium territory, including patrols, guarding strategic locations, and even general peacekeeping. Many soldiers are placed in the Silver Order because while they do possess the required magical proficiency to join the military, they lack the proficiency required to join the other orders. Despite this, many powerful wizards and sorcerers join the Silver Order by choice, and all in the order are very well trained in defensive strategy and combat. However, with the army of Allysium being small for its nations size, resources must still be allocated as efficiently as possible, and soldiers from the Silver Order are often used to bolster forces from other the orders.

The Golden Order

The Golden Order is in charge of any offensive operations or conflicts outside of Allysium territory, and are Allysium's attackers during war. The Golden Order spends most of its efforts outside of war on fighting back Orcish and Hobgoblin raiding parties, which tend to aggress into Allysium if left unchecked. Allysium is rarely without conflict, so the Golden Order is much more dangerous than the Silver Order. Due to this, the requirements to get into the Golden Order are more demanding, especially regarding magical skill. While the Silver Order requires basic skill in magic, the Golden Order requires one to understand how to perform a few offensive spells, and one must be able to weave magic into physical combat. This does not mean that every soldier is a wizard, as most of them are swordsmen. Most use magic to complement their physical combat, such as through subtle enhancements to physical abilities, or even modifying weapons with magic, like setting one's sword on fire.

The Platinum Order

The Platinum Order consists of the best of the best. There are less than a thousand soldiers in the Platinum Order, making it the smallest by far. Soldiers in the Platinum Order must be either recommended by a high ranking superior, or sponsored by a current member of the Order. Once they have been recommended or sponsored, they must go through rigorous tests that challenge them physically, mentally, and magically. Those in this order are not just widely respected, but feared for their immense skill in combat. Due to their low numbers, they are either assigned to a small group, or they work alone. Those in the Platinum Order work as specialists that go through incredibly dangerous operations with very high risk and extremely high importance. Those in the Platinum Order are incredibly talented magic users, and it is said that one Platinum Soldier is worth 100 Golden Soldiers.

Tactics

The military of Allysium may be small, but they compensate for this weakness by using clever strategy and powerful magic. They focus offensive forces on quick, well-coordinated attacks at strategic locations, striking like lightning and overwhelming enemies with magic. The military of Allysium is likely the most coordinated and well-informed army in all of Veteria. Intel is key for Allysium, with intel gathering being one of the primary jobs of the Platinum Order. Allysium tends to favor flanking maneuvers and pincer attacks in combat.
