Yoru

An Elven sub-culture known for its strong ties to Night magic.

History

Endiginous to the northern regions of Kyama, the Yoru lived in relative isolation from the majority of elven society with the expection of villages located along the coast and regional borders.   During the early reign of Emporer Itatu, campaigns were made to consolidate Kyama as a single nation and culture. Dipolmatic overtures were made to Yoru clans for assimilation, but most tribes refused.   The interactions between cultures held at a stalemate until the Northern Plague ravaged villages along the border with Yoru territory. Many were quick to decry the plague as an attack by the Yoru with the conclusion being used as justification for a military invasion of by Imperial forces.   The conflict ended with the Yori conqured and forcefully assimiated into the Kyamese empire. Laws were soon passed limiting the rights and privileges of Yoru cultural practices, strongarming them into adopting the Taijin culture and hiding their heritage.   Many Yoru fled across the sea to mainland Vestria, where they were able to more freely maintain their culture.
