Moon Touch

A form of mental influence and conditioning via Night Magic.
Not dissimilar to hypnosis, the illusory effects of Night Magic are used to strengthen stimuli.
A commonly accepted use for the technique is as a form of therapy to help anxious or high-stressed individuals relax. More illicit uses for it, though, include manipulation as part of a grifting scheme in order to induce a sense of calm and faux safety in a target

Effect

Moon Touch allows the caster to mentally and/or emotionally manipulate the target. The extent of which can range from relaxation to increased suggestibility to altered perception.

Side/Secondary Effects

Depending on the degree of manipulation, there have been reports of subjects experiencing gaps in memory and strong, inexplicable emotions.

Gestures & Ritual

As the name might imply, Moon Touch is typically performed through physical contact. This serves to both create a stronger transmission of magic between caster and target as well as create a physical stimulus for the manipulation.

Effect Duration

Depending on the conditioning, the target can feel effects for a few minutes or even a couple months after breaking contact with the caster. However long lasting, though, the effects of Moon Touch are never permanent and will indeed fade with time.

Effect Casting Time

Depending on the desired effect, the time and even number of contacts required for Moon Touch to work can range from a few minutes for a simple relaxation induction to longer, more systematic approaches for conditioning and behavioral changes.

Applied Restriction

As with normal hypnosis, the skill of the caster and suggestibility of the target serve as major factors in the efficacy of the spell. Bare in mind that Moon Touch largely just lowers the defenses of the target. It's up to the caster to actually build up the conditioning.
While with its legitimate uses, Moon Touch is heavily regulated with malicious use of the technique regarded as a criminal offense. Even practitioners using it for therapeutic means require certification and oversight to be allowed to operate.
