Eropei

"This place is full of burrowing bugs and big-headed buffoons. Remind me not to come back here."
  • Captain Mundir Silvertongue, Naval Veteran
  • The eastern lands on the edge of the Serpent Sea, Eropei is considered an insular land, with everything from the people to the creatures living in almost completely solitary conditions. Nomadic Aelva communities, Large Geddeman and Dwaervei underground cities, and the precarious ways the ecosystem works, gives non-native visitors a headache in this alien place.

    Geography

    Northern Region

Home to large mountains, rolling downward to the grassy plains of Piarsin Fearack. Most of the quarries and mines are found here, and excavate through the mountainous areas. Bygone ruins from before Thritic occupation can be found at the tops of mountains and inside them, relics of the Geddeman peoples ancestors, who now live among Dwarf communities primarily.

    Middle Region

Most of this area is enveloped in swamps and bogs. Muck filled paths are poorly marked through, leading to the various mines and towns that dot the region, abandoned, or occupied by unwelcoming hosts that have filled the ghost towns.

    Southern Region

Frequent arid spots that culminate in a tropical tip the farther you go. This is the more pleasant of the entire continent, but don't be fooled. The common pests of the area are enough to dissuade most from settling here.

    Gell

A curious creature in Eropei, due to its classification as a Fae-type creature where most other species in Eropei possess innate magical resistances. This may be due to supernatural intervention in their biology, or a natural adaptation to a bygone era of the continent. Each sub-species have curved bills and colorful feathers on their tails and wings. Gell feathers are used for ornamentation by Aelvi caravans.
    • Winged Gell- Though all the Gell breeds possess wings, the Winged Gell is known as such due to its wingspan being twice its body size. Their feathers are tinged with yellow and orange feathers. These feathers (when they can be obtained by spell-casters) have been used in the enhancement of speed, or even flight in higher spell-casting rituals.
    • Water Gell- These birds live near the waterways and in the swamps. Their feathers have highlights of pink and light blue. These birds feathers have a unique water-proofing to their feathers, and are therefore useful in large quantities as rain-cloaks or deterrents.
    • Tree Gell- These are tree dwelling gell, whose feathers mimic the greens of the trees they nest in. This makes them prized possessions for those that wish to camoflage amongst the forested regions.

    "Anti-magical" Species

    • Ritual Lilies- A plant that has magic negating properties to it when in bloom. The flowers of this plant even retain this ability when plucked from the ground. (Any spells cast within 20 feet of a Ritual Lily flower have disadvantage)
    • Fae Oaks- Named for the odd warping of their trunks that some say resemble faces, these oak trees are scarce in number, but are hard to uproot. The oldest among them in Eropei for instance is Seirana's Oak, named after the Fae queen of renown.
    • Maroon Moon-Howlers- A curious species of marsupial that live in the southern region of Eropei, with reddish brown fur. They are prone to howling on the full moons, and are considered small game that the locals hunt. Their hides are magically resistant to most elemental spells, but are difficult to work into viable clothing.
    • Kaiten- While as big as a Scorpiose, these creatures are rarely seen above ground. Their docile demeanor and reclusive nature make natives indifferent to their existence. Though it is said that Geddeman once herded them for their chitin, and used them to carve glyphs. This however fell out of practice as the years went on, die to the chitin becoming less receptive to magical energy transmission.
