Bellend

"A City unburdened by Mysticism"

"The opulent jewel of Eropei, Bellend is the city one must experience for themselves. The architecture a mix of Dwarvish and Aelvi, as well as Geddemen. The cuisine choice strange and tantalizing. If you've got any sense (and a lack of magical items) then Bellend is where you should visit." -Exiles Travel Guide

Bellend is the largest port city of Eropei, and one would notice upon entering its famous circular bay. Clear water, and tall buildings greet travelers as they arrive, and many are taken aback by the size of this place. Many cities may rival Bellend in population, but none rival it in its unique take on architecture. The consistent renovation and additions of structures has turned the city itself into a continuously evolving organism, with the citizenry being the bloodstream that keeps it going.   Home to diverse groups of people, Bellend's culture is a broad slate, and caters to many tastes. A large population of Dwarvish and Aelvi live here, and their impact on the city is not unseen. Fine armor craftsmanship of the militants and Inquisitors, the lovely jewelry of the citizens, and the rigid, formal stylings of the buildings owe themselves to the dwarves and their cousins. Renowned for their crafting skills, and their techniques at crafting anti-magical shielding into materials, which is prized by the government of Bellend.   Aelvari influence has affected the cities overall aesthetic portrayal, and many Aelvari restaurants and artisans weave beautiful concoctions, be they clothing or cooking. Many Aelvi ply their trades here, and the density of competition leaves the prices affordable for even the common man.
Bellend is split into 5 distinct districts, each home to a certain industrial/engineered theme. This design is an ever present reminder of the cities cultural love for organization, order, and efficiency.

Lapis District:

The artisan/textile area, where many find tailors and weavers work and live.

Ruby District:

The forging section, where armors and weapons are mass produced.

Amethyst District:

The largest housing area in the city. Ranges from the richest neighborhoods to the dirtiest slums.

Sapphire District:

The general shops and restaurants of the city. Many city centers and forums are here, as well as leisure activities.

Citrine District:

Shipbuilding and warehouse region. Large businesses and factories own the land here, and use it to create monolithic buildings for their industrial endeavors.

Demographics

67% Aelvi 24% Dwarves 5% Geddemen 4%Human   Most of the common peoples are Aelvi, though are indistinguishable from the human demographic of many major cities, as their cultural garb includes the binding of the ears. Dwarish population estimates can only account for "above ground" dwellers, as census polls have given skewed results in regard to Dwarf and Geddemen populations. Despite this, many of the dwarvish/Ged merchants hold a sizable portion of wealth. This is most likely due to their internationally valued trade.

Government

The governmental body of Bellend is divided into three Consulates, each with 5 members of nobility. The first is the Judicial Consulate, which puts the laws into effect. The second is the Militant Consulate, which controls the guardsmen and military body, and the third being the Anti Magic Consulate, which is almost solely involved in the confiscation and prohibition of magical anomalies and users from the city.

Defences

  • A fast deploying city militia overseen by the Militant Consulate
  • Watchtowers that are manned 24 hours, with guard changing shifts every 8 hours. Towers are scattered throughout the city and along the walls, and are able to signal other towers for aid or warning.
  • A city spanning wall system, with an inner smaller wall, and a much larger outer wall, able to stand siege and artillery fire.

Industry & Trade

  • Creation of anti-magical weaponry/defenses, using the metal Eredium, which is known for it's nnegation of magical effect.
  • Crafted goods made by the local Aelva, Dwaervi, and Monastic Order of Occupation. Everything from textiles, jewelry, and religious iconography.

Infrastructure

Central dockyards with expansive use of heavy machinery, imported from Hobsrunne. Pulleys, levers, and cranes to expedite shipping Airship yard, for farther imports from Amarron and Bardsbank. Passenger travel is uncommon, but can be purchased for any with the coin. Subterranean streets and community centers, largely populated by Geddish and Dwarf citizens. The secluded nature also makes the space perfect for illicit activities, providing a large central area from criminal enterprises.

Assets

  • Aelvi textile artisans
  • Dwarvish Armorsmiths/Jewelers
  • Geddemen Masons/Carpenters
  • Civric Martial monks who travel here to sell their crafted goods and help the citizenry
