Vecna
The Whispered One
Other than the Raven Queen, Vecna is the only mortal to ever ascend to godhood. He first turned himself into a lich to avoid death, and spent thousands of years working in secret to reconstruct how Maeve became a goddess. At some point during this process, he was interrupted by the betrayal of his own lieutenant, Kas, who cut off his right hand and left eye before banishing him to his demiplane. The Hand and Eye of Vecna remained on Erden as evil artifacts, but Vecna himself had to complete his research from afar. Even so, he gained enough followers over the ensuing centuries to ascend to a demigod-like state, and through their aid, he finally discovered the secret of apotheosis and became the Whispered One: god of necromancy and arcane secrets.
Tenets of Faith
- Learn all you can, and keep hidden that which you know. Reveal what pieces you must, but never the whole.
- Express and cultivate the evil within yourself, and in doing so, recognize it in others to exploit them for your own benefit.
- Seed the ruin of all who worship other deities, until only those who kneel before Vecna remain.
