Maeve

Maeve the Raven Queen is a mysterious figure. She was once a powerful but mortal fey who devoted her considerable lifespan to studying the deeper secrets of life, death, magic, and immortality. At some point, she discovered a way to become a god herself: by slaying an existing god and taking their power. She killed the god of death, seized his domain, and erased him so thoroughly that no mortal being remembers his name. But the Raven Queen is by no means evil, or tyrannical. She is a dispassionate observer of the living, and an impartial guide to the dead. Occasionally, she will intervene to prevent the dead from being raised by necromancers, or to keep mortals from meddling with destiny, but she mostly spends her time watching silently from her palace in the Shadowfell.
The Raven Queen has no specific patronage beyond being the matron of the dead, but the shadar-kai revere her especially, and she grants them some measure of protection from the soul-degrading nature of the Shadowfell. How exactly this arrangement works is known only to them and her.

Divine Domains

Maeve is the goddess of the dead. She guides souls to their various afterlives without any partiality; she only wishes to ensure that they make it there unhindered, and stay there. Her only other job is maintaining the threads of fate, keeping mortals from interfering with the greater scheme of things.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Raven Queen's symbol is an expressionless white mask resembling a woman's face, framed by the wings of a raven. This mask, rendered in porcelain, is worn by her priests during certain ceremonies.

Tenets of Faith

Death is the natural end of life. There is no pity for those who have fallen.
The path of Fate is sacrosanct. Those who pridefully attempt to cast off their destiny must be punished.
Undeath is an atrocity. Those who would pervert the transition of the soul must be brought down.
