Human

The most widespread heritage in Vesperfall, and perhaps the most difficult to define. Humans carry no known innate gift. No singular strength outside survival. No physical distinctions that set them apart from this world they inhabit. What they carry instead is limitless capacity for brilliance, cruelty, for love, ambition, sacrifice, and for every compromise between. No heritage has produced more moments of genuine greatness…none has squandered more. They are shaped almost entirely by choice, which ought to make them the freest of all people, and yet the weight of that freedom has a way of bending toward self before it bends toward anything else. They are not beyond good, not beyond redemption. But the mountain of their own potential is steep, and history suggests they have never quite reached the top, not because they couldn't. Because something always pulls them back before they do.
