The Vile

Soul reaping spirits from the Underworld.

The Vile come in many shapes or forms depending on their origins, so they do not have a specific body type. Some are born of pure spite, others sorrow, and they grow to feed on souls of the living for sustenance. Many Vile are volatile in nature, so caution is well-advised.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ve'Naji can have no limbs to as many as eight limbs. Their anatomy as a whole is case by case. All Ve' Naji, however, have an orifice used to siphon souls from the living. This can be in the form of a normal mouth, a tongue, or an opening in the body.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Ve'Naji can take years to develop, considering that the emotions it is born from continue to fester and do not change. It starts from a simple orb, gradually growing in size over time, and as it does so the orb will become more and more unstable with several bubbling growths, before at long last a new Ve'Naji is born. The birth is not chaotic, and the orb it used to incubate merely implodes and the spirit is spawned elsewhere to feed as it wishes. Once 'hatched', a Ve'Naji's form may be incorporeal, if not partially incorporeal, to make it easier to hide and sap at the life force of the living much easier. As the spirit consumes more, its body will begin to take shape and solidify into its 'Adult' form.
It is said, however, that in their home realm the Underworld, the Ve'Naji are often born fully solidified as Adolescents or Adults, as they have all the 'nutrition' they need to hold form.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Every Ve'Naji that lives MUST feed on living energy. Not trees or plants, but the living soul energy of breathing, walking creatures. Ve'Naji can choose whether or not they wish to consume the flesh of these creatures, as physical matter does not harm their bodies, however in order to stay "healthy", they must consume this energy, lest a much stronger Ve'Naji overpowers them and either kills or consumes them. To Mystic Class Veskrians, the Ve'Naji are a horrific threat as they rely on their own soul energy to mend with their mana.

Social Structure

Ve'Naji are often territorial and do not work with others of their kind. This is because of the fact they rely on living energy, or souls, almost selfishly. Very rarely is it seen that Ve'Naji work together and form symbiotic relationships.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Ve'Naji have been on the Earth for as long as the Ancients have. They simply did not have a name until recent times. They live because of Leoro's fury and hatred that knocked the Overworld's balance awry. Leoro could spawn them instantaneously and infinitely, but now they have a means of spawning naturally in the overworld by emotions and/or desires.
