A language is comprised of its root and (Dialect). If you know the root language you can understand, speak and write all of the dialects of that language, to a passable degree. (unless stated otherwise). As of right now, there is no mechanical difference between them, but there will be in the future, so your dialect will matter even more as actually knowing the dialect, can make a subtle but impactful difference. If a class grants you a language, you are considered to know the root of that language. If the class does not designate a dialect, you may choose one.
