The Great Coven

  Dolten is a dark place with many dangers, but there are far greater dangers than those in the dark forest. They lurk just out of touch of the mortal realm, patrons of great power and seductive words. The witches of Dolten formed a pact with Baba Yaga, founding the Great Coven to act as a slave against the darkness and instead turn it into Dolten's gain. The witches of Dolten have since sought out those whose souls burn brightly enough to handle the dark tasks of unseen lords. You have joined the Coven, not because you wanted to, but because you were chosen. The why is unclear, but what you must do is not. You will serve the witches in whatever scheme they may need doing, for each step you take is a controlled one - one that keeps the unknown at bay.  

Starter

  A cauldron, Alchemist Supplies, Cook's Utensils, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a belt pouch containing 15gp   Improved Starting Equipment - Choose three from the following item sets to start with: x2 Bandoliers, x3 Potions of Healing, Pole of Collapsing, Antitoxin, 2 empty vials, Bullseye Lantern, Smoke Stick, Net, Hourglass.   A Dark Gift - You gain the Eldritch Sight invocation and may use it normally. If you are a warlock you may instead choose a single invocation of your choice that is available at level 1.  

General

  Attribute Cap Increase - +2 Constitution; This boosts the maximum of an ability score but not the score itself.   Patron Blessings - Unique feat only available for those of the Great Coven. This blessing can be used to replace an old feat if you have one, you may only benefit from a blessing if you have an ASI in which to place it. This can only replace an old feat. This does not replace another use of ASI. This is otherwise a general benefit.   Tool Proficiencies - Alchemist's Supplies, Cook's Utensils   Barbed Brass Ring - Membership within the Great Coven is marked by those that wear a barbed brass ring. Mundane to the sight but significant to the ordained.

Patron Blessings (Feats)

  Blessing of the Shadowhound   Requires 1 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   The Shadowhound is a great canine, it's contorted shade-like form causing it's feature to be confusing at times, but it's purpose is not. It is a witch guard of the highest caliber, as it guards the Witch Queen herself. The Shadowhound gives it's blessing to those that would be the wall that stands before the many threats.
  • Once during a short rest you may choose an ally with the spellcasting class feature. If you do whenever you are adjacent to that ally, you take half the damage they would take in an instance of damage. You can take this damage 3 times per short rest.
  • You gain resistance to force damage.
  • While you are within 5 feet of your chosen caster, they receive a +1 to their concentration saving throws.
  Lady of Eyes   Requires 1 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   The Lady of Eyes is the spymaster for the Witch Queen and quite adept at subterfuge and divination. She bestows those with her blessing, the gifts of being unseen and allows them to:
  • You gain advantage on insight, investigation, and perception checks on a specific creature if they are unaware of your presence.
  • If you possess the Invocation One with Shadows, you may move without breaking the invisibility.
  • You receive a +1 to all stealth checks.
  The Laughing Serpent   Requires 1 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   The Laughing Serpent is the court jester for the Witch Queen, using wry wit and careful timing to achieve his goals. Those that ask for his blessing receive insight into other people and how best to manipulate them.
  • You gain Expertise in the deception skill.
  • You gain advantage on insight checks on a creature you have succeeded in deceiving with the deception skill within the same encounter.
  • You deal 2 additional damage with poison damage.
  The Wordless Wyrm   Requires 1 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   The Wordless Wyrm is a silent opposition to the throne of the Witch Queen, although he serves with loyalty, he disagrees with the manner in which Baba Yaga is governed.
  • If you posses the Armor of Shadows Invocation, you gain a +2 bonus to AC when under the effects of Mage Armor.
  • Your Eldritch Sight is now permanent and doesn't not need to be activated. You can see magic at all times as natural as sunlight. You may shut this off should the need arise as a free action on your turn.
  • You gain a +1 to Charisma saving throws.
  Sorrow's Howl   Requires 1 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   Sorrows Howl is known as the patron of tears, it governs regret and from it wisdom. It is a black shadowy wolf, that emanates an aura of soft sobbing.  
  • You gain Cure Wounds as a warlock spell.
  • Whenever an ally would be adjacent to you and makes a death saving throw, they roll with advantage
  • +1 to wisdom.
 
Latent Potential (Feat)   Requires 2 Loyalty to the Great Coven.   A Character with this feat may choose one of the Phenomena normally available to the Illithari and may use that Phenomena once per 24 hours.   This feat allows the character to qualify for other Psionic feats.  
Blessings of the Patrons   Prerequisite: 5 Loyalty   Members of the Great Coven learn two Warlock Cantrips of their choice. These cantrips cannot be retrained, and are lost when leaving the Great Coven, or when falling out of favor of the Witches’ Council. These cantrips use the Witch or Warlock’s highest mental stat.  
Warded Ring   Prerequisite: 7 Loyalty   The Coven Member's Barbed Brass Ring is upgraded and imbued with protections against madness and similar effects. While wearing the Ring the Coven member gains advantage on all saving throws made against Madness, Fear, Charm, Domination, and other mind altering effects.

Tenets

  • Do as you're told; question, but obey.
  • We are not a well-kept secret; use discretion, reveal yourself only when needed.
  • Safeguard those you travel with from things they do not understand. The eldritch forces are most deceptive.
  • Above all else, destroy any evidence of Oloken'hai; kill his minions, silence his whispers.
 

VINPC

  Volas, Illithari Warrior   Volas was one of the heroes of the rebellion and although in his older age, is still a capable warrior and an even more capable psionic. He stands watch over the Great Coven in Mr. H's stead.   Ryliona Torose, Gith Cleric of the Red Star   Strange Occurrences: Once per mission whenever you would roll a Natural 1 on a d20 you can instead treat it as a Natural 20.

Exit

  When leaving the Great Coven you sacrifice all loyalty benefits, and benefits of any Loyalty Feats, and you must return your ring of membership and you lose access to your Dark Gift.

Faction Tool Empowerment: Alchemist's Supplies   +2 Alchemist's Supplies are made available to the faction. Any faction member can use this kit, but it cannot be removed from the Bank, nor does it count toward the number of total magic items in the bank for the purpose of the magic item limit.

Naga Brewery   The Naga from Ryne have offered a supply of their exotic potions and reagents to the Great Coven. Members are granted access to purchase reagents from Shopping using a downtime day as described in Consumable Crafting. Members may also purchase from a limited supply of potions through their faction’s Medical Ward.

  Brews: Brews are potions made within an alcohol. Brews always last 3 rounds and then give the poisoned status for 1 round.     Clarity Brew
Legendary (8,000gp)   Grants a +2 Intelligence for the duration. While under the effects of this elixir, you have advantage on concentration checks.     Tranquil Brew
Legendary (8,000gp)   Grants a +2 Wisdom for the duration. While under the effects of this elixir, you have advantage on concentration checks.     Healer’s Brew
Rare (1,200gp)   Grants a +3 to all healing effects received.     Reverant Brew
Rare - 1,200gp   Grants a +3 to physical damage rolls made with natural weapons.
 

Faction Loyalty Milestones Achieved

  • 15, Downtime - The faction itself gains downtime days as if it were a player, if 3 were awarded to the player base, the faction gets 3. These can only be used to progress agendas. These days will be submitted after each update stream.
  • 27, Gold Income - The faction earns 1000 gold every update stream. This gold is immediately stored in the Faction Bank.
  • 30, Forward Base 1 - The Faction begins to expand. You gain an outpost within the country that your Faction resides, Dolten for the World Wanderers. This outpost increases the magical item storage capabilities of your faction bank by 1. This outpost is not an RPable location, and can be destroyed through certain events.
  • 41, Armory - The faction opens its own armory, in which adventuring gear, proficiency tools, and non-magical and exotic simple and martial weapons, armors, and mount/pet barding can be purchased using downtime days, faction members buy these at 50% discount, players from other factions and factionless buy them at full price and 50% is directed to the faction coffers. When you RP the purchase with the Quartermaster of a faction with this milestone, you do not need to spend a downtime day on shopping. If you do not, you must spend a downtime day to do so.
  • In both cases you will need to submit a trading log in the trading-log chat below is an example.

  • 49, Forward Base 2 - The Faction continues its expansion. You gain another outpost within the country that your Faction resides. This outpost increases the magical item storage capabilities of your faction bank by an additional 2. This outpost is not an RPable location, and can be destroyed through certain events.
  • 50, Research Improvement - The Faction intensifies its researching capabilities. While the Faction has active research it will submit research days as if it were a player. These days cannot complete research.
  • 57, Downtime - The faction itself gains downtime days as if it were 2 players, if 3 were awarded to the player base, the faction gets 6.These can only be used to progress agendas. (replace the previous downtime buff).
  • 66, Medical Ward - The faction opens a medical ward, in which medical supplies, healing potions and anti-toxins can be bought using downtime days, faction members buy these at 50% discount, players from other factions and factionless buy them at full price and 50% is directed to the faction coffers. The medical ward stocks 6 basic healing, 2 greater healing potions and 2 anti-toxins each update stream. The medical ward can only stock each item up to the amount of members in the faction. Non-members and Factionless must RP the purchase of these materials.   If your Faction has access to the Naga Brewery, the medical ward also stocks 1 Clarity Brew, 1 Tranquil Brew, 3 Healer’s Brews, and 3 Reverant Brews each update stream. Faction members buy these at full price, players from other Factions and Factionless buy them at 150% of full price and the extra 50% is directed to the Faction coffers.
  • 75, Forward Base 3 - The Faction expands deep into its country. You gain another outpost within the country that your Faction resides. This outpost increases the - magical item storage capabilities of your faction bank by an additional 3. This outpost is not an RPable location, and can be destroyed through certain events.
  • 88, Gold Income - The faction earns 2500 gold every update stream. This gold is immediately stored in the Faction Bank. This overwrites the previous Gold Income milestone.
  • 90, Forward Base 4 - The Faction expands its influence to the corners of its country. You gain another outpost within the country that your Faction resides, the World Wanderers may choose another country to build this outpost in. This outpost increases the magical item storage capabilities of your faction bank by an additional 3. This outpost is not an RPable location, and can be destroyed through certain events.
  • 120, Forward Base 5 - The Faction doubles down on securing its outposts, increasing security and supply to them. This increases the magical item storage capabilities of your faction bank by an additional 1. This outpost is not an RPable location, and can be destroyed through certain events. Design links pending.
  • 124, Gold Income - The Faction earns 3500 gold every update stream. This gold is immediately stored in the faction bank. This overwrites the previous Gold Income Milestone.
  • 130, Research Improvement - The Faction intensifies its researching capabilities. While the Faction has active research it will submit research days as if it were 2 players. These days cannot complete research. (replaces the previous research buff).
  • 140, Improved Kennel - The faction expands its capacity to hold pets and mounts by opening an additional kennel. Each member can now house an additional five Tiny/Small creatures, three Medium creatures, or one Large creature.
  • 150, Downtime - The faction itself gains downtime days as if it were 3 players, if 3 were awarded to the player base, the faction gets 9.These can only be used to progress agendas. (replace the previous downtime buff).
