The Fall of Almunkad

The Shrean Order, after sieging the city of Almunkad for two years, defeated the Merchant Kings and seized the Jewel of the Oasis.

Hephaestus, the Golden Avatar, led an army of 5000 soldiers to the walls of Almunkad. Expecting the arrival of the Shrean Order, the Merchant Kings of the city called upon their court mages to raise the city's defenses, and rallied a horde of mercenaries to hold against the fanatics. At dawn, the army began to lay siege, lobbing stones and magic against the high walls. With supply lines cut off, driven away or slaughtered by the Shreans, the city was slowly starved into submission by the enemy. Mercenaries fled or became turncoat, and soon the Merchant Kings found their city overrun, and themselves slain at the hands of Hephaestus and the Order. The fall of Almunkad marked the beginning of the Shrean conquest, their Order using the city as a landing ground to march across Ukum-Aru.
