Light Tubes

One of the greatest achievements of the Elder Spirits before they ascended to the void was the creation of a technology that could transform matter into photons and back. Their main use for this technology was to transport personnel and supplies between different stations literally at the speed of light. These stations were interconnected with massive optic cables designed to transport the photons without losing any particles to refraction along the way.

Utility

Other than the aincent's preferred method of using the technology, There are rumors that Conflux scientists have been working on jury-rigging light-transferrence cells into a weapon that transforms targets into light permanently, cleanly and effectively erasing them from existence.
Access & Availability
The technology of light tubes is, for now, only available to those who can find samples among Elder ruins. Light tube technology, even the chemical composition of the optic cables, is totally beyond the understanding of any of the races of Veron. The best anyone can do at this point is either use the technology exactly as it's set up, where it's set up, or scrap the samples they find and use the parts for their own unique purposes.

That is a terrifying form of execution. Oof. Love the idea here. It seems more grounded than the likes of star trek. Using cables really makes it feel more real. Nice piece of tech.   I wonder if present day explorers often die due to accidently using the tech designed to erase as opposed to transportation.

I guess it would be a very efficient way to dispose of your trash...   Mostly I think explorers die of this technology because the tubes they travel through are cracked or broken. Sometimes they just come out the other side a little bit shorter. Over time, good explorers learn never to jump into a tube unless they can see the other end.   Of course, using this stuff as a weapon probably never crossed the elder's minds; they probably had much more long-range and efficient ways of combat. Maybe the conflux can use it for black ops that benefit from leaving no evidence behind... they just have to be careful not to hit the ground too or it'll leave the authorities scratching their heads at this strange cavity where the target was a few seconds ago.
