The Fifth of Nereivur Public Address

Written by UmbralGoat

...Citizens are expected to remain within the Third Walls...Foreign travel of any kind except that of business, trade, or diplomacy is strictly prohibited...Iþivian Soldiers will be posted in every major Square...at every Wall Gate...
— The Iþivian Royal Family

As the first sun rose on Nereivur 5th, 1883 TC, citizens of Iþivis awoke to find countless messengers riding through the streets, satchels stuffed with hundreds of ink-black letters. Crowds formed on the edges of the roads to make way, and the letters were tossed and flung by the handful. Messenger Heads could be heard projecting their voices to "heed the word of the king and the Grand Emperor!"

The envelopes were that of a public address, ink-black cardstock embossed with floral patterns. On the front they formed the symbol of the Celestial Empire. On the edges, the flora wrapped around to the back where they met a stamp of lavendar wax, depicting the wings and beak of a Hawkraven.

The Death of a Guardian

The letter opened with an urgent and harrowing announcement that one of the nine Loþra that protect the outskirts of Kovura had been found killed after flying from the South and crashing just outside in the fields beyond the Third Wall.

The titanic creature was thought to have been ambushed as an attempt to infiltrate the country. The motive and reason were not known. Nearby Loþra were alerted to the danger, but by the time they had arrived, the intruders had vanished; soldiers were dispatched to aid the fallen Loþra, but it was too late.

A State of Emergency

The letter went on to inform citizens that Soshan aggressors were suspected, as the attacked Guardian was nearest the Southern border, and that until details were set proper and potential retaliation was had, there would be no permitted exit of the kingdom's Third Wall, except for business, trade or diplomacy. It warned that the intruders could still be within the country, or have even entered the kingdom's limits.

Less than two hours after the Guardian was found to be dead, a letter was sent from the king of Iþivis to Sosha; Jupiter was informed immediately as well and signed the letter. Thus began a short period of tension while the kingdom awaited a formal response from their Southern neighbor.
