Aleksandr "Sasha" Wolenska
Aleksandr, or more popularly known by his friends and family as 'Sasha', is the Prince of Wolyria. He is the third eldest child of the Wolyrian royal family and the next in line for the throne should his elder brother King Zakhar fail to provide an heir. However, this young man really has no ambitions to take the throne, as he is too busy exploring and traveling and doing his own thing.
Ever since he was a young lad, he was always causing trouble for his family. At the age of 12, he started to sneak out of the castle and into the city. He even had an entire elaborate story and fake identity made up, entirely rehearsed and perfected just in case anyone questioned him. Of course, the first several times he attempted to sneak out he didn't make it far or long before getting snatched up by the guards. However, that never stopped him. If anything, it only encouraged his antics and troublemaking.
Eventually, he got good enough that the guards and his family weren't able to catch him for periods of time before he'd eventually sneak his way back. It was a long series of trial and error. Whenever he'd make it out to the city, he'd explore all of the fun and interesting places he could find. Shops, secret alleyways, scenery, etc. Maybe pick a pocket or two. It is because of this that by the age of 15 he knew that city like the back of his hand. Because of this...he always found himself wanting for more. Seeking more thrills, seeing more beautiful things...and people.
He longed to travel out of the city to explore, but his parents both shut that down really quick. Eventually, when he was 16, he tried to do it on his own anyway. He left the city and started travelling to the nearest city. Sasha didn't really have a particular purpose or goal or idea of what he was going to do once he got there, but he figured that was a Future Sasha problem. Present Sasha just has to worry about getting out of Orenza and into the next destination.
He made it to the next town over and had picked an inn to settle in for the night. However, in the middle of the night he was ever so rudely awoken by the door to his room being banged on. Several angry guards stormed in, and as you can predict, he was escorted all the way back to Orenza.
This was the last straw for his parents, and he was essentially kept on a sort of house arrest for the rest of the year until he turned 17, whereupon he was made to enlist into the royal navy by his parents. Their hope was that the military would teach their son some discipline that he oh so desperately needed. However, it had sort of the opposite effect. Who would have thought putting someone with wanderlust out on the open ocean would only exacerbate the problem? Huh! Being out on the ocean with the navy actually shaped him into the person he would later become. Through his time in the military, he discovered many of his passions. Sailing, swashbuckling, drinking, women.
He would continue to serve until the death of his father when he was 24. After this, his family called him back to the capital, not technically pulling him from the navy but essentially putting him on an indeterminate amount of leave so he could attend to princely duties. Naturally, he has been doing the absolute bare minimum of what his family requires, and secretly longs to return to the open ocean, though he knows his family likely won't allow that now.
