Director Kanth

Director Kanth was once considered a visionary and a genius. He was instrumental in the design of the metropolis Waterfell, and served as its superintendent of maintenance for over a decade. No one doubted his reputation; he was deemed incorruptible by the citizens he served. Yet that all went down the drain one fateful afternoon.
Director Kanth, then a struggling architect in Autumnal, was pitching an unsuccessful business idea in the Untamed Wilds when he met a Sunderer's Devoted, whose name his journal does not mention. This Devoted offered him a deal. Kanth would be given the power he'd always hoped for, enough influence to build a new metropolis under Kanth's design. In exchange, Kanth would be bound to do whatever the Devoted asked of him when the Devoted returned in twenty years.
Kanth agreed. Through underhanded deals and favorable rumors, he was granted the privilege of designing a new metropolis: Waterfell. He did, and was amazingly successful. No other architect could even imagine designing a city into the side of a cliff, powered by a series of waterfalls. He was then appointed director of maintenance, a title which he hated. He had hoped to continue to design cities, yet was stuck here in his very first creation.
Over the years, Kanth festered. Every flaw in his creation, which had once seemed so revolutionary, was painfully obvious. Waterfell never achieved the prestige and power of other metropolises, held back by its limited energy source and lack of food. So when the Devoted returned and called in his favor, Kanth gladly agreed.
Kath opened Maintenance Shaft 1 to the river above, causing a cascade of water to begin to fall into the city. The bulk of the metropolis had been constructed deeper down in the mountain, and the water rushed into the stairwells and elevator shafts. All the lower levels were flooded. Thousands died who could not escape in time, and the structure of the metropolis was permanently damaged.
Kanth fled to the Wilds, but in his haste he left his journal in his quarters in the upper part of Waterfell. First responders discovered it, and Director Kanth is now reviled across all of the metropolises, a traitor to his people.
