Mithilfjell Mountains

The Mithilfjell mountains stand at the southern most part of northern Aetrus, serving as the border to the Nemthraz desert. The red mountains stand tall and span wide across the continent from the western coast and into the east.

Geography

The mountains stand tall and hold many caves, some that lead deep underground. The surface of the mountain range is mostly dry with little vegetation. Snow forms at the tallest peaks and runs off as it melts forming rivers that run into the valley below. The range begins at the west coast of northern Aetrus where the mountains stand tallest and spans eastward as the peaks begin to flatten into a plateau, continuing until they reach the east coast.

Fauna & Flora

Little vegetation grows in this rocky terrain. Among the few trees that grow are, junipers, oaks, and pines. The Mountains are an important habitat for a great deal of well-known wildlife, such as elk, moose, mule and white-tailed deer, mountain goats, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, badgers, black bears, grizzly bears, coyotes, lynxes, bald eagles, peregrine falcon and wolverines.

Natural Resources

Hunters often travel into the mountains to gather meat and furs from the local wild life. The caves are rich with precious metals such as copper, silver, gold, iron, and of course mithrial as the name implies.
