Verden

The 4th on Rem, 1108 SE

The bloody dawn of a new world. The lands and seas of Verden are still glistening with the magics and energy of Creation, and yet the ground is already stained in blood and turmoil. Great beasts stalk the lands, and greater beasts lurk behind the city walls. It is a land where adventure calls, but the title of Adventurer has yet to be donned.   Currently, all of the known world is found in the Verden Valley. It is a vast area sheltered by the Haudur Mountains to the north, the Sojen Sea to the East and South, and the Black Mountains to the east. Though some have tried to explore beyond these natural barriers, thus far none have returned.   The Valley itself is still recovering after suffering through the 500 year long Heavens War. Many of the worlds earliest histories and knowledge were destroyed and entire civilizations were obliterated in the blink of an eye. Those who survived were left to pick up the pieces. Finally, after hundreds of year of reclaiming and relearning, the people of Verden are ready to expand once again.   However, there is still a great unease in the air. The Heavens War ended inconclusively and the gods have withdrawn into an uneasy truce. While mortals bicker and fight against the wilderness and the gods feud or retreat into self-exile, there is a great evil resurfacing... one that has not been seen since the dawn of creation.
