DeChutes Ford is a small village nestled in a gentle slopping valley on the banks of Nilb’s Run. The village of DeChutes Ford appears prosperous enough. Farm carts line the streets and people seem to be moving briskly about their business. There is a large, manor house situated on the east side of the road, overlooking Nilb’s Run. Armed men, wearing the liveries of several lords patrol the streets and guard the manor house.
The homes show little activity other then smoke from the chimneys and the slight movements of curtains. The folk of deChutes are inordinately interested and wary of strangers passing by. The signpost outside the village leans drunkenly.
The road here shows moderate use. The sign indicates that deChutes Ford lies just to the east across the ford, the village of Swan lies to the west Cienega Valley and the Village of Hommlet to the south. Far Downs also lies some 5 miles southeast from the crossroads.
Most of Ravens’ Cradle comprises homes. A few locations, however, are of particular interest to adventurers:
1: The Guard Post
Tall guards dressed in blackened chain armour and dark cloaks call themselves the The Scarlet Flame mercenaries
2: Tumble Downs
DeChutes Ford finest inn is the Tumble Downs, albeit somewhat crowded these days. The common room is a lively place with free flowing drink and conversation.
3: Miklos’s Vintners
These fields grow grapes. Nearby stand storage sheds, used to brew local wine, a cote and out-building.
4: The Spider’s Web
Vendra Blackhands runs this large wash house and tailors. It got its name from the web of clothes lines strung between the buildings.
5: Siansis’s Stables
Wilhelm Siansis runs this large open stables and corral, with his daughter Reyvan. Tethered outside is a large black goat that nibbles the clothes of anyone straying too close.
6: The Cradle
This large house with several out-buildings is Tellisk Vardun’s home. Here Tellisk and his family make straw-filled hemp mattresses to sell around the village and ship off to nearby towns. They also make duck down pillows and eiders but have recently been accused of using raven feathers.
7: Katla’s Abode
Katla dwells in this decrepit cote.
8: The Bleakstone Traders
The towns central trader and supply house. Run by Joheem Bleakstone.
9: The Bleakstone House
Small manson house of the Bleakstone family.
10: DeChute Manor
