Golden Gaze

Golden Gaze
The world of Venhum has existed for a very long time now and has dealt with many issues, wars and deadly divine ascensions over the millennium it has been alive. For some a lesser issue, for others the possibility of great fortune and for others a tragedy in the making, this is the perculiar case happening in the smallest of three continents, known as Haine. Over the course of several months, animals, creatures of all kinds and especially people have been found across the old ruins of the expanded Kingdom of Bunk, completely turned into gold. This was only later found out, as the level of detail was too immaculate and contained personal items bought, lost, manufactured or recently sold to customers by merchants across the land. Realizing this fact, some of the more interested parties of this "Alchemist" case have put a bounty on finding and capturing or killing this culprit, as a large sum was promised: ones weight in gold to be exact. In addition, they believe this to be a serial killer/transmuter as the humanoid culprits always were middle-aged humans with long facial hair and fine clothing. With a reward laid out and an interesting investigation on its way, who will stand up to the challenge?
Session Progression
Session 10 is completed, which marks the end of the campaign.
Campaign Choices and Events
  Blessings
Trials of the King
: One of these completed challenges has been surrendered to the Collector, whilst the other has been earned by Adira.
  Locations
Loriander's Labs/Sanctum: Both of the laboratories and the sanctum have not been destroyed by the Golden Beholden, leaving behind some of the notes and information, as they could only take as much as they could carry.
Odin: Odin was largely unaffected by most of the events happening around their outskirts and beyond, but was greatful for the Golden Beholden stopping the threat, as well as prompting the Inquisitor and his men to finally leave.
Tomb of the First King: The Tomb was uncovered, the King in Red released and most of its undead inhabitants have been taken care off, including the friendly ones.
  Objects
Crown of Queen Anastasia Weißlicht: Has been surrendered to the Collector.
Essence Philter: The secret experiment, known as the Essence Philter, was not finished by Loriander and all known notes about it have been destroyed.
Philosopher's Glaive: This golden glaive is still in the possession of Carbuncle, the Silver Serpent.
  Party
Through this band of adventurers, mercenaries and those that wished to find their place in the world, the regions around the Capital of Bunk no longer have to fear of loss of their friends and people through transmutation. The party, now know as the Golden Beholden, consisting of Adira (Rachel), Pyrite the Hungry (Thomas), Qlark of the Goddess' Carcass (Kevin), Uchawi (Birb) and Zephyr (Kas) receive the following trait:
  • Determined: Wishing to see a mission through to the end, you have unwavering will and determination. Your movement speed can't be reduced, including through grappling, restraining and rooting effects, whilst you are using the Movement action or the Dash action. In addition, once per session you can reroll a saving throw after you rolled it, but before you know its outcome.

  •   In addtion to all this madness, Qlark chose to take on a colossal task by defeating the current servant of the Collector all by himself, well almost by himself!
Lastly, the party was rewarded an amount of gold equal to their weight at the beginning of the quest, once all was set and done...
      People
Baer Klau: After eventually beating the trials, one way or another, he felt accomplished helping out the party the best he could and returned, wherever he came from!
Blizzard Lizards: This mercenary group was found dead inside the tomb after failing a test of magic and cleverness.
Carbuncle, The Silver Serpent: Carbuncle has gotten her revenge against her foster father, Jokilin Loriander, and decided to leave the continent together with Adira, as they bonded over their complicated pasts.
Cult of Bulk: This mercenary group survived the ordeal and even managed to steal some coin for themselves from within the now emptied tomb.
Eraliel: Once all obstacles have been removed from the sanctum and the reward was given to the party, Eraliel had not said a word and released the party back into the real world.
Ferdinand: The "imposter" king Ferdinand was brutally murdered and betrayed by the party, mostly Zephyr.
Geralt: No longer under the spell of Loriander, Geralt remained inside the tomb, saying that there is always something to clean inside these ancient halls and that he will continue what he does best, with a promise to eventually see the sunlight once in a while.
Huntmaser Herbert: A great betrayal was inacted, as Herbert was killed by necessasity by Qlark during the battle against the Collector.
Inquisitor Kayn Equestar: Kayn Equestar was fully informed about the actions and deeds of the Golden Beholden, and what they have seen and witnessed within the tomb. With the additional information about both The King in Red, Nidan Hogg, as well as "Midas' Touch", he has a lot of work to do and only so many ressources to act upon. In his eyes, Bunk is going into another crisis.
Jokilin Loriander: Without mercy, the foster father of Carbuncle, was killed by the party and Carbuncle's gold transmuting abilities before he could finish a dangerous experiment, that he was conducting for Nidan Hogg, the one that gave Carbuncle into his custody.
King Artorias Siegmund Bunker: The First King of Bunk has been released onto the world and is planning to take back his former kingdom, as the people of Bunk prepare for war against his undead cohorts.
Rubilei, The Gold Serpent: The very first victim of Carbuncle, her little sister to be precise, was given for safekeeping to Inquisitor Kayn Equestar if, or rather, when the rare herb known as "Midas' Touch" is found within the cold embrace of Haine.
The Collector: In the end, the divine servant of the God of Debt has reaped his benefits and returned to another misfortune caused by his contracts!
