WarForged

The war forged vaguely resemble humans made of metal. No one for sure knows where they came from or who made them. Over time the War Forged learned to act for themselves over many centuries. The glowing blue cube that powers each war forged is indestructible but also nobody knows how to create new ones. If a cube is removed from an war forged it is killed, but these cubes can be added to new bodies to create new war forged. This means there is a finite number of war forged and any cube that is lost to them is considered a tragedy. This is a problem since the nation is under constant attack from hordes of snake-like creatures from the west. The naga love nothing more than to steal away cubes of fallen war forged. The war forged have built a massive series of defensive walls to the west to fend off the naga hordes. The war forged are distrusting of outsiders due to the many wizards trying to study and deconstruct them. Many outsiders are unconvinced that war forged can be considered sapient beings.
