Troheim

Troheim is a very rigid cast society.  Based on your race there are roles that you are allowed to be part of, and those that you are not.  Very rarely are there ever exceptions to this, and those that have could be counted on 2 hands.     The primary race in the society is split between Hafllings and Gnomes.  The halflings are a vicious people that do not hesitate at all to exploit a weakness in their opponents.  The gnomes realized early on that supporting the halflings would lead them to the top, and so for centuries have used all of their knowledge to empower the halflings and keep them on top. The current ruling body of Troheim is made up of 6 halflings and 6 gnomes.  They each are responsible for different facets of the country.  The elves of what was Aurelia are no better than slaves here in Troheim, as are the Firbolgs that tend the great forests that grow the ironwood that the strength of Troheim is based off of.  There are a variety of other races that call Troheim home, at varying levels of responsibility and power.  One of the best kept secrets of the Troheim is just how devastating their military might really is, they never let the enemy of any conflict survive.  If there are even rumours of a person having survived a conflict with the Troheim military, they are soon disappeared, or found dead. No one knows how they do it, but there seems to be no end to their reach.     Troheim however appears content with their continent, and is not aggressive to other nations, aside from the Jalanrak Magedom, but there exists an uneasy truce there, as both realize just how much devastation would be wrought should the two sides ever unleash their full arsenal.     Aurelia was the best known center of learning. The Academy of Aurelia has one of the largest collections of books in the world. The Academy had a long history of neutrality, allowing anyone to come and learn. During the rise of the Troheim Empire the people of Aurelia grew concerned that they would be conquered by the Imperium, that they would not respect their tradition of neutrality. Knowing that the Academy was of great importance to other nations the people decided used it as leverage. The four fledgling states surrounding the Academy formed the Aurelian Coalition.  The Coalition stood no chance against the might of the empire however, and the intelligence of the military.  They crumbled days after the conflict started, and the knowledge of what happened in that conflict has never been shared outside those that were there.
