Master Runecarving Feat

Taking the Master Runecarving Feat grants a number of bonuses.
  • Gain Proficiency in the Runecarving skill, If you are already proficient you gain expertise.
  • Choose another set of tools, (Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Goldsmithing etc), and gain 1/2 proficiency in them.
  • Immediately learn 10 more common runes of your choice from the list found below.
  • The DM will also give one Rare rune of their choosing.
 

The Runecarving Skill

When you gain proficiency in runecarving, either through the feat or from taking it as a tool proficiency you gain the following:
  • 1/2 Proficiency in a craftsman tool of your choice. Common choices are Leatherworking, Jewelers, Blacksmithing, Woodcarving, Glazier, Weaver, and Stonecarver. While not enough to outright craft items in that line of work, 1/2 proficiency is minimum needed to do runecarving in that material.
  • 8 Common runes from the list below. It is considered a good idea to take a mix of Actions, Materials, and then concepts/elements to be able to make useful sequences. You gain these runes with the understanding of what they do.
  • You and the DM will discuss 3 different sequences that you already know how to make using your selected runes.
 

Runes

The following is a list of Common runes. Runes come in three different levels of obscurity. Many who discover a rune do not easily share the knowledge or pass it on, as such some runes have become more common knowledge amongst carvers whereas others are carefully guarded secrets for the power they hold. Rare and Secret runes can only be discovered in the world or recovered from items that have had them etched into them.   Runes are also loosely categorized by what part of reality they represent. There are elements, which represent fundamental but tangible parts of reality. Materials which correspond to literal materials in the world. Actions which are all ways for runes and forces to act on each other, and the concepts. There are subcategories of concepts but concepts are fundamental but intangible parts of reality. They can describe or be a part of something but cannot be held and their use is more difficult than applying elements to materials, but they do provide the most flexibility in terms of creativity.
