History
Created on P'Ache Micro long before it became part of the Peacekeeper Alliance, the Macran pipe is wrapped up in the Macran culture. They were originally used by Macrans as a way of relaxing after a long hard day. It was also a favourite of the elderly who would smoke socially. It is traditional to sit around, slowly smoke a pipe and catch up with friends, talking about the memories that smoking enduces. In the last four millennia, since joining The Alliance, the uses of the Macran pipe have changed. Since other ethnicities and species discovered the effects of the pipe, it began to be used by many as a high-impact recreational drug. While on P'Ache Micro it is still used in a traditional manner, as a social lubricant and a way of accessing memories, across the rest of the Peacekeeper Territories it has a more illicit significance.Workings
A great many things can be smoked using a Macran pipe, but it is most commonly a small amount of dried Hanid, a plant most commonly found in the swamps on P'Ache Micro. The combination of the treated wood and a small pebble which sits inside the stem, creates a unique smoking experience.Utility
The impact of smoking the Macran pipe depends on the way in which a person goes about inhaling. There are two methods; slowly, filling the lungs, and quickly, in several short sucks before exhaling. These two methods have very different effects on the person inhaling.Slowly

I really like that it has different effects if smoked slowly or quickly. That's a nice touch. I don't know if the positives outweigh the negatives enough for me to try it, so I'll give V'Kly a pass here.
