Shar - Goddess of Shadows and Darkness
Twin Sister to Selune and created by Ao the All Father. Identical in most every way to her sister, save for their hair; Selune's being Silver, and Shar's being Black. Her portfolio includes, Darkness - both physical and within -, night, shadows, secrets, loss, and forgetfulness. Often her name is invoked when people are in a dark place, as well as an emotionally dark place. She is known by the names the Mistress of night, The Lady of Loss, and the Nightsinger. Selune and Shar were responsible for creating Melora, The Goddess of the Sea and Wilderness (also known as The Wildmother) Melora didn't find Selune's light to be enough to create Line on Velgrath, so she appealed for light and warmth. Selune obliged and this created a rift between the twins.
She felt abandoned by her sister who also had all the Allies in both Melora and Mystryl. So for this reason Shar stewed in the darkness and was locked in a constant battle with Selune. Also quite intrigued by the weave Shar created her own Shadow weave which existed within the folds and dark spaces of the weave.
The church of Shar is largely composed of underground cells rather than working from Temples. That's not to say they don't exist, but they would generally be in an underground area. her hatred of Selune extends to her followers and churches are often at odds with one another. The churches dogma revolves around secrets and followers are only instructed to revel any secrets to her followers.
Shar's followers have at times been known to work covertly to bring down governments and also promote intrigue. There are no fighting or knightly orders associated with Shar, mostly thieves guilds, or sorcerer monks associate themselves with her that will tap into the shadow weave.
