Devlog - 12/27/2024: IOM RPG and sandbox elements
So lets talk about the gameplay of “Incubus of mooncity”. Developed in Renpy, it is going to be a Visual novel with RPG and Sandbox elements. At the start of the game you will pick a Life path which will setup story beats and your primary stats, next you will pick your college path which will dictate your secondary stats and tact on a few more story beats. This will all be done in the prologue.
The role play element of the game largely revolves around your lust, A point system that will serve as a double edge sword to you. Whenever you do something that could be challenging or interesting you are taking part in a test. In which your stats, skills and any lust you have will be taken into account. The score of each is added to together to give you the number of dice that once rolled will come out as a fail, success or critical success, that will tally together. if the success matches or pass the difficulty of the task, you succeed, however if even one of the lust dices, that may have been added to the dice rolled a 1 it becomes an automatic fail. As you can imagine this can make for interesting plays depending on the state you are in when you enter a scenario. Especially if you don’t have the stats and or skills needed to even succeed in the first place. Forcing you to either accept an failed state or resort to gathering lust at a chance of passing, however this can also be frustrating thus enter the sandbox element
One of the things you can optionally do in the game is forming a cult. your cult members will become a means for you to sidestep some of the test you will have to deal with. However, this in itself will not be a get out of jail free card as it will have it own pitfalls you will have to worry about, remember netorare is an option in this game, although weather it will be true netorare or netorase will be up to the player, or it may not even fall into those options at all.
