Devlog - 11/15/2024: Ok, so let's start righting this ship.

Not many folks are still here from when I launched Dogmonic. But I need to get back into the habit of posting regular updates, and right now I'm on the cusp of releasing a new game. With that said, let's get everyone here on the same page.
 

What happened to Dogmonic?

  TLDR: Daz3d 4.20 update killed the game. I was already suffering from burnout thanks to hardware failure. The update coming along and destroying all my scenes, plus getting rid of ghost light, killed whatever fight I had in me to complete the game. This prompted me to create a pipeline from Daz3d into Blender. Characters would be made in Daz3d, along with taking resources from it and moving them over to Blender, and I started working on "Succession Crisis" which would be renamed "Return to Civility."
 

What happened to Return to Civility?


  A lot of things, but the main one was feature creep. As I kept working on the story, it grew into something a bit more personal when it was just supposed to be an excuse plot for an urban fantasy story where the MC sleeps across the city. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE SOMETHING WRITTEN IN 3 MONTHS, NOT A FUCKING YEAR! Because of that, I ended up shelving the project with the plans of coming back to it later while working on something smaller with a defined scope.
 

Enter Incubus of Mooncity


Incubus of Mooncity is basically what Return to Civility was supposed to be: a story that has some intrigue but is basically there for the MC to sleep around. There is a greater plot, but the main drive is mainly him getting laid even if he doesn't want to.
  the synopsis: John Matthews awakens in a hospital with three days of his life missing and his estranged guardian at his bedside. Returning to a home he fled six years ago would be challenge enough, but fate has crueler plans. Transformed into an incubus, he has a choice before him: embrace the monster within and indulge his growing desires, or fight to maintain his humanity in a world where nothing is quite what it seems.
  At its core, Incubus of Mooncity is a visual novel with RPG elements, as your stats will have an effect on what will and won't happen. I'm shooting for something between Baldur's Gate and Telltale in an effort to make a sandbox game that doesn't suck. As such, the main gameplay loop will be based around your lust. Just about everything in the game will cause you to gain lust which, if you don't deal with, will lead to a game over. And the only way to get rid of it is to have sex. Luckily, you're an incubus and have a number of tools at your disposal to help.
  One last note: I had plans for the longest time to release what I had already finished on Dogmonic as a free update. As of right now, it's just sitting on my desktop collecting dust. At some point, I will remake and finish the game, but I first need to learn how to groom hair in Blender, as Max's fur will not port over.
