Devlog - 08/12/2022 - Still Alive
General Summary
So I haven't done this in a while and that is largely because I've been writing Return to Civility (Succession Crisis) for the last… oh god, 6 months… longer if you count the fact that Dogmonic. takes place during Return to Civility and not the other way around but with most of the writing done. At the time of reading, there are only 2-3 chapters that need to be finished, granted that I still need to go back over with an editor to check the flow and pacing. But that has more or less been done for the first arc, which we will talk more about later. I’m already starting to start talking about what I have been up to as of late.
The Move to Blender
So, for any of you who were around during the release of Daz3d 4.20, you may have noticed how everyone was screaming like their head was on fire. For the most part, they were. With the release of 4.20, Daz3d “fixed” their lighting, breaking the lighting setups in projects across the board. For a while now, everyone has been using what is known as “ghost lights,'' as means to light their scene because it was a much easier way of doing it than with the lighting tools that Daz3d gave us. From what I understood, the ghost lights were taking advantage of some kind of bug in the coding. and the 4.20 release fixed that bug, breaking everything else. the fact that Daz3d doesn’t have any means of downgrading their software, along with a WHOLE host of other problems with the software, signified that it was time to move on to a better software. Enter Blender. At the time, Blender had already made a name for itself as an open source software that was getting industry praise. It has been something that I had dabbled with before but never got fully into until now. For now I will still be using Daz3d, as there is something that is just easier to do in Daz3d for me than Blender but as time goes on, I will go from just making environments and props to rendering full scenes in Blender, While just using Daz3d to make characters. The Projects
Return to Civility
This is the game I was working on before going dark and what will be my main focus as time goes on. As mentioned before, the story follows Chuka Kismet, a recently retired Army captain, as he attempts to readjust to civilian life in hometown of Danport, Washinton, only for secrets of the past to start creeping back into his life. The plans for the release of this game is to do minor and major releases. Major Releases of the game will release whole swabs of the game, in the form of Arcs, with two branching paths for the players to follow. Minor releases will add more side content, if not, whole branches With the Minor releases, there will be a combination of community and developer chosen paths. One last thing to note, this game will have 3 Seasons, for the lack of a better word. For now, it will follow the same release setup as that of a Major release, encompassing a full arc, and then minor releases that will add detail and branching paths.Scumming
This Is going to be an interesting story, as I'm writing it mainly to try and do something different with Ren'py. As such, the story will be straightforward, in which you can speed through the content quickly. The trick here is, in what the name implies,it will be a time loop story, and a lot of the story and gameplay will revolve around that. The third game
The third game, I don't want to talk too much about, as I am still pre pre-production, trying to find an angle that I like. What I do know is that the game will made in UnityMisc news
In the intervening time,Ii have been working on smaller projects, to help pass the time. One of them being a crossover with DeepGlugs in Euryale Gambit, in which Taraia made an appearance. You can find the short story that inspired the cross-over here.
