Yaco

A white powder processed by grinding a plant of the same name and mixing it with water. The water is then let to sit for a few days. The plant matter is then separated and the water is boiled. What remains is a white powder if properly refined, lower qualities have touches of green or yellow. The Yaco plant itself generally grows in jungle biomes but refined Yaco is sought after the world over for its properties as a powerful stimulant.

History & Usage

History

Yaco was first created by the people of Balaka for sacred rituals. The Prima Trade company eventually took control of the majority of the Prima Islands and saw the possibility of selling a potent stimulant. They began trading it with Anglonia and Estonia. Before long both continents learned how to refine the plant themselves.

Discovery

Yaco was discovered by the peoples of Balaka. Their Shamans used to to remain awake for days in order to get visions from the gods.

Everyday use

Yaco is commonly snorted as a stimulant. It is highly addictive.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Yaco is outlawed in some places for its addictive qualities. In others it is given to soldiers to allow them to march for days on end.

Refinement

Yaco must be refined. This is done by grinding the leaves into a thick paste. This paste is then mixed with pure water and the concoction is allowed to sit for days. After the concoction has sat the solid material is strained from the liquid and the remaining liquid is boiled. What remains is Yaco. Depending on the quality of the process the Yaco is either pure white, whitish yellow or whitish green.

Hazards

Highly addictive, after someone becomes addicted to Yaco if the do not use more they will go into a withdrawal state.

Trade & Market

Primarily seen as a luxury good, when outside of the areas it can be refined it is also seen as exotic and rare.

Storage

It is generally stored in waterproof containers. Water tends to dissolve the Yaco.

Law & Regulation

Some places outlaw the use of this item to stem the population that becomes addicted from it.
