Killing Pirates
General Summary
After waking from her rest within one of Arcanist Viserel's rooms Reilynn discovered that Sigard had absconded in the night, luckily she had taken the check for 2500 gold in the night for safe keeping. After walking out the door she was quickly confronted by a handful of sprites from Red's troop who rapidly told her that there were more slavers in The Neiwilde Forest. This time they came by boat and were beached on the Deluga river. Reilynn rushed out to meet them and defend her home.
Unbeknownst to Reilynn, two other heroes, Drax Drax and Madu Ini-Herit, were down on their luck, both having been recently captured by pirates of the crew of Captain Lolita La'voure. They were currently being transported on a long boat to sell to some Hobgoblin Legions. Two pirates had remained on the long boat and were guarding the prisoners.
Reilynn approached the boat, attempting secrecy but was quickly discovered and the two pirates began yelling at her to leave. During the commotion, Drax searched their makeshift cell in the hold of the ship and found some items he could use as a makeshift lockpick. With great skill he picked the lock just as Reilynn and the pirates began to exchange blows. Reilynn launched fire bolts at the pirates as they returned crossbow fire. Drax quickly climbed to the top deck, dragging his and Madu's bags back into the hold so that they can get their weapons. Now that the pirates were outnumbered they were quickly dispatched, one being killed and the other surrendering and thrown into the cell the heroes once were.
After interrogating the remaining pirate they found that the pirates were selling slaves to the Hobgoblin Legions in service of Admiral Titonius Black but were recently tasked with capturing Fey for a new client. They also found out that a few more pirates had headed off into the forest to scout and they were lead by Botiti, Captain Lolita La'voure's first mate.
The heroes tried to set up a trap for the incoming pirates. Drax hiding in the sails of the ship and Reilynn and Madu attempting to hide behind some bushes. Upon Botiti's return he quickly discovered the ruse and attempted to negotiate. He wanted to leave, Reilynn tricked him saying if he left alone they would let him. While trying to leave a fight ensued. Magical blasts were hurled by Reilynn, Drax jumped from sails stabbing Botiti from the sky, Madu provided support, Drax was picked up and thrown from the boat. Botiti was finally killed after a tense battle the boat now being carried down the river. The group beached the boat, planning to use it in the future. They interrogated the pirates further and decided to hire one of them, by the name of Layton Fields. The other pirate was tied to Botiti's body and sent down the river. The heroes agreed that they worked well as a team and chose to travel together.
