Clan Raid Shield
Whenever a group of Nordic warriors raid far off lands a clan shieldbearer is chosen. This shieldbearer is generally the raiding parties best warrior. The shield they carry is decorated with runes representing the current and past raids and is a valuable relic of the Nordic peoples. It is a great honor among the clan to return the shield after a successful raid and place it above the clans hearth. It is a great dishonor among the Nordic peoples to lose the shield during a raid. Great Clan longhouses have the walls above their hearth lined with Raid shields, each shield being carried through hundreds of raids.
