The Scepter of Eshrak Kai

The scepter of Eshrak Kai is an ancient relic that is part of the Crown Jewels of the kingdom of Erestea. The scepter was wielded by the ancient kings of that land as a mark of their power and there are many legends about the mystic power it granted to its wielded. The scepter disappeared during the sacking of Andalon nearly 600 years ago, and the loss significantly weakened the royal authority.

History

The construction of the scepter is hidden in the mists of time, and scholars disagree on who first wielded it. However it is clear that the first known user was the warlock king Eshrak Kai. Eshrak was arose first as a warlord taking control of several tribes and towns in the area around the Dove marshes in what is now central Erestea. Initially Eshrak behaved as most warlords do, taking control of more and more surrounding tribes. However, he was defeated in a great battle with the horseman peoples of the northern wastes and disappeared for over 50 years.
When he returned it was no longer as a mere warrior but as a warlock of the highest order, wielding the Scepter. The legends of what he did with the scepter are many and diverse but most sources agree that it gave him power to influence peoples minds and that it seemed impossible to hurt him with mundane weapons. Using its powers Eshrak Kai quickly united the wandering peoples of the region and founded the kingdom of Erestea. When Eshrak Kai passed away the Scepter was inherited by his son and remained an heirloom of the kingdom for more than 500 years, and the Kai dynasty remained unbroken during that whole time.
600 years ago however, Erestea was embroiled in a large scale conflict with it's southern neighbours in Armboth and a newly risen Orc kingdom in the north. During this conflict the capitol of Andalon was sacked and the Scepter was lost. This also spelled the doom of the Kai dynasty and ushered in the rise of the Hermenion royal family.
The current location of the scepter is in the vaults of the executive dominance state of Ulek, one of the closest allies of Erestea and is a very heavily guarded secret.
