Godsmiths

Godsmiths are powerful Soulweaverswho can manipulate and shape souls to their will. They are often employed by noble houses to create powerful soul-bound artifacts and weapons. The most notable God-Iron weapon is the Black Blade, wielded by the Knight of the same name during the beginning of the Storm Age. Another is the Storm Aegis, whose wielder forged the Aegis House. A God-Iron artifact is an item that has been 'awoken'. It has been somehow fundamentally altered to absorb souls like it is a person, or wood. The way that this is done is through an extremely difficult series of spells that set up the artifact as a 'human body'. One soul is implanted, and the soul acts as if it is within a body itself, instead of an item. Thus, the Soul Logic reverberates through the artifact, and it absorbs and holds souls. And, because it is actually an item, it cannot become Lost. This new material is known as Ironweave.   There have only been 2 Godsmiths in the history of Vaskeer. The first is Priscilla Glore. Priscilla's children started the Isdemor House and the word 'pristine' was based off Priscilla's creations, known as Priscillan. The second Gosdmith is Xandros. He created the more harsh and crude God-Iron artifacts that are either lost or kept as prized possessions in the modern day. The more elegant ones which focus less on battle and more on elegance or convenience or pure wonder belong to the First Godsmith. Xandros' works of pure violence became known as 'Xandrian', in his honor. Xandros' was best known for his creation of the Storm Aegis, a God-Iron shield wielded by his sister's husband, Sir Alden the Defender.   There are rumors that a third Godsmith has arisen, but keeps his art secret to not be targeted by the Iron Houses.

Priscilla Glore and Priscillan Artifacts

Priscilla Glore was born sometime around 250AW, over 250 years ago. She grew up in the ancient halls of Old Iron, far from the land of Iron and its huge number of roaming Lost. Priscilla found herself as a Soulomancer, which, during those times was disastrous. The fact that she was cousin to the King is the only reason she was not burned at the stake immediately. The people of the Old Iron Kingdom had dealt with catastrophe after catastrophe caused by mad Soulomancers unable to control the sheer power within souls. The Drowning of Veler's Temple in Gloripoli. Quintus the Mad during the Yellow Campaign. Priscilla was watched and kept isolated, made sure to never absorb souls in case she lost control. But Priscilla wanted to live. She was creativity incarnate, and needed to express herself. She became a painter, a jeweler, a goldsmith. She worked with tailors and learned all the trades in the Iron Kingdom, mastering them all with the blood of Glore aiding her. But it was not enough for her. Eventually she turned to Soulomancy, against the wishes of her ruling House, but not as others had before. She did not care for spells. She wanted to see how souls interacted with materials. With physical objects. Spending decades on this, Priscilla eventually figured out how to use iron, the life blood of her Kingdom, as a vassal for souls. And with a specific creation process during the smithing, she could give it near limitless possibility, allowing the souls to fuel artifacts of innate magic while protecting the user from The Soul Logic.   Priscilla spent her life perfecting all kinds of crafts, creating objects unparalleled in usefulness and beauty and passing them out amongst her family and closest friends. Her artifacts never need to be recharged.   Known Priscillan Artifacts in order of creation:
  1. Glorius Effigi - The first Priscillan Artifact, created by Priscilla as an ode to her ancestor in his prime. Said to still be held by the ruling Emperor.

This was lost sometime during the Burning War, and with it, any hope of rekindling the poetry of the Triumvirate Era.
  20. The Black Blade - can cut through anything, including magical barriers and steel. It's original name was Teneferrum. The blade was lost for a time during the Great Settling, but later reappeared in the hands of a mysterious warrior of the same name. Is now held by the Lord of House Blackblade.

Xandros and Xandrian Artifacts

A great secret kept by owners of Xandrian items is their limited use. Xandros wove specific, elemental souls into the awoken iron as he created his weapons, and they are consumed when the powers of the artifacts is used. It would require another Soulomancer to funnel the specific souls into the weapon to recharge it. Xandrian Artifacts are known for their explosive capabilities, but hold charges within that must be recharged with sacrificed souls. All were created just before, or during, The Burning War for that sole purpose. Known Xandrian Artifacts in order of creation:

Xandros, happy with his prior work, wanted to re-create the infamous Windspear, wielded by Veler, the Tempest. The Witnesses saw this as trying to outdo the Hero himself and spit in the face of Ethos, God of Death. Xandros fought back, saying that he only meant to honor them. Alas, Xandros was found guilty by the Iron Creed and burned atop the mountaintops while the Burning War raged below. An offering to The Burn. The Wind Spear was destroyed alongside Xandros at the pyre.
