Knights Errant

A guild from ancient times formed to oppose the Gridel in the first great conflict with the rot. Slowly, as the races of humanity lost contact with each other, the Knights Errant lost cohesion and faded into the annals of history. However, with the rise of a new wave of Gridel incursion, a coalition of noble warriors have revived the guild to face this threat and stand as a bastion of cooperation between all races and social classes.

Structure

At the bottom of the hierarchy are the Squires. Squires are non-combatants that assist in the functions of the guild not handled by other members of the guild, mainly cooking, cleaning the guild houses, and seeing to the needs of the other guild members. Squires may either retain their status indefinitely or seek to advance their station in the guild by learning martial or arcane arts in order to become a proper Knight Errant. Squires are addressed in an official setting by their last name prefixed with the title Thir.   The next rank is the Knight. Knights constitute the main body of the guild and are made up of combatants which take on low level quests, commissions, and bounties sent to the guild. Knights are rarely sent against the Gridel and are mostly asked to deal with regular monsters. They usually operate in small teams to effectively deal with threats, hopefully without any bloodshed. Knights are addressed by the prefix Sir.   Veterans are the guild members that deal exclusively with powerful monsters and/or the Gridel. Veterans often act as the face of the guild and handle many elements of running the guildhalls when not in the field. Veterans are addressed by the prefix Zir.   The highest and most prestigious rank within the guild is that of Guildmaster. Only twelve Guildmasters may sit on the Errant Council at any time, one for each branch of Vasahldey. Guildmasters are addressed by the prefix Maystra and only engage in conflict with the most dangerous of the Gridel or rogue dragons. Some beloieve that many Guildmasters are Greater Dragons themselves, but these are, for now, merely rumors.
