Genetics and Reproduction

A new one forms from the remains of old sails becoming entangled with loose energy cores in the water.

Growth Rate & Stages

Overtime the creatures continue to attach scraps of fabric to themselves. The larger they are the older the individual is.

Ecology and Habitats

Found in the depths of the ocean, usually near the remains of sunken vessels. Some will drift to other more open waters if the area becomes too populated.

Controversy

There has been serious debates about the impact of the species. Fishermen have brought up complaints over the damage a living sail does to a fish population. Others will declare them to be natural creations formed the same way as other creatures and should be left alone.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Consumes any sea life that enters its folds, dangling threads will capture prey before drawing it in. Anything to big to eat will be left with burn like wounds after the sail gets a few bites in.

Behaviour

In the water they move leisurely along with the current catching whatever comes along.   When washed ashore or stuck at low tide a sail can survive for about ten days out of the water. During this time it will be weakened, nearly blind the air sends far less information to the creature's senses than it normally receives but it's not entirely helpless. It will lash out at any that approach, the attacks will stun and leave bruises allowing the it time to escape. A sail will then attempt to make its way to the nearest source of water in order to regain strength.
