Thrund

Thrund is the Capital city of Hindaras. A large city built within a mountain. The city grew from a small mining operation instated in Dundaras. Over time it grew, and families moved in to support the workers. Almost 4 millennia has passed since the founding of Thrund and the location Dwarven homeland has been twisted and lost over time.   The mountain Thrund is in has now been almost completely hollowed out in the hunt for Mithril, and now the buidlings and homes of the people hold Dundaras up—a marvel of Dwarven engineering. The city is lit by an artificial sun, a mixture of Dwarven engineering and magic. Five large pillars stretch from the floor of the city to the roof above. These pillars are how the city divides itself.   The First Pillar known sits at the heart of Thrund. It is larger than the rest, almost twice the diameter if of the next widest pillar. Like the others it is made of stone, except this is covered in gold gilding all over it with intricate patterns engraved into it. The King's Hall and the noble part of the city are built in a circle around the main pillar. Only the most wealthy and ambitious Dwarf clans have a home/shop here.   The Second Pillar is half the size of the first and has been painted red stripped with blue. The people here are not as rich or powerful as The First Pillar, but they are still in the upper echelons of Dwarven society. Also contained here are the administrative buildings required to make the city function.   The Third Pillar has several bands of silver color and around it is the main market of Thrund. Here is where the Dwarves trade there money for goods and services. It is uncommon to see denizens of the First Pillar here, instead servants usually go and trade in their place.   The Fourth Pillar is almost completely its natural stone colour, except for three green rings towards the centre. This notes the mining district, where the mining operations were conducted int the past. Nowadays the vast majority of central Dundaras has been mined, but the ore and gems from other mining operations is brought here to be processed. Large blast furnaces operate here, and the air is usually warmer than the rest of Thrund. Jewelers and Metalworkers also set up shop at the Fourth Pillar. Here the buildings look more for function than appearance, made mostly of stone and sturdy wood.   A pillar of pure stone colouring, the Fifth pillar is the home of the more common Dwarves of Thrund. People who look out to the more central pillars and dream of rising above their more humble beginnings.   People from each district are free to travel between them, although people are reluctant to leave their circles except for important business.   A river passes through the mountain of Dundaras, allowing the Dwarves access to water. This river passes through the Second, Third and Fourth Pillars. Alongside it sits a series of Watermills. It is through this river and it's port that Thrund interacts with the outside world, and it is the only place in the city where outsiders are permitted to enter.

Architecture

Dwarven architecture is unique, incorporating many intricate carvings of stone and metal engravings. Nobles will usually have larger and more grandiose homes, even going so far as to incorporate large gems into there design. Pillars are also often used in the construction of a Dwarves home, inspired by the central pillars that hold up the mountain.
