The Path

The religion of Iver is a monotheistic religion built around the principles of transformation and competition. Their prayers are devoted to the entity sometimes called the Lord of Shifting Mountains, Delos Edhil, Stone’s Muse, or the Spirit. The worship of other pantheons is allowed within the city and several other churches exist within or near the city. Roughly sixty thousand people within the city claim to revere the Spirit to some degree.

Practioners typically are expected to worship in workshops by practing their chosen art. While non artisans are allowed within the religion they are considered to be below others. Throughout Skavari's history this has caused many problems causing several adaptaions to allow for a more harmonious society. The recognition of farming and horticulture as an artform was the first and maybe most profound change as it allowed for farmers to feel they are worshipping though to this date none have risen to be one of the eight Venerated that sit atop the heirarchy of the religion.

The current head of the church is a women named Magthyra known as Magthyra the sculptor, first of stone. She has been the leader of the pilgrimage for 29 years.

  •  1st Principle is that of competition.
  • They are called to strive to be better than those who share their Calling. This principle serves the purpose of never allowing one to rest on their previous accomplishments.
  • 2nd Principle is that of transformation.
  • They are called to champion change within the self and the world. The principle is meant to represent that if one is rigid they will never achieve everything the greatest form of creation.
  • 1st Step : Practice
  • 2nd Step : Summit
  • 3rd Step : Nurture

Individuals will often refer to themselves as being within a step or a practice saying I am in the 1st of the 1st to represent they are practicing their chosen art. Someone preparing are piece for a festival would be in the 2nd of the 1st. Older individuals will say they are in the 3rd of the 2nd if they have taken up a role of counseling. These steps are not taken in order and one should regularly change their step and principle.

The hierarchy of the church holds eight individuals above all others in skill. to Achieve this role they must have a work accepted by the spirit during the Trail of Wonders. The twenty Kendumu are those tasked with helping nuture others in their callings with the the twenty Kenemi working under them to assist. Given how broad some disciplines are it is expected that and Kendumu will select a Kenami that holds a different expertise than theres such as a master painter who focuses on portraits might select someone who's specialty is in landscapes.

Under these distinguished individuals generally a Dumu is the last role of leadership held within the religion acting as general guides for those of their calling though they do need to be recognized by one of the Venerated or a Kendumu to achieve this title.
