Magic is not an easy thing to describe, but it can largely be understood as a natural phenomena that allows for the spontaneous generation of matter or energy that would otherwise exist. This can be the creation of light, gases, elemental forces, or even the summoning of creatures and the creation of portals. The source of this energy and matter is called the weave, an energy field who's strength seems to be tied to the existence of life in a region. Some ascribe an intelligence or sentience to this weave, some even worship it as a god! While I have at times felt a certain... presence, when deep in great spells, I do not believe it is a god. It's worshippers do not gain spells, no matter the fervor of their belief, so at most it is some sort of primordial. Whatever it is, it is likely so old and great we will never know it's true nature. Perhaps this is not such a bad thing, to know our limits. I separate magic into 4 categories: Spells, Artifacts, Natural phenomena, and Special Magics.
