Shadow cats live in the Shadowlands with Amel. They are elusive creatures known for their glowing red eyes. Under ordinary circumstances, they're completely invisible and they live in total darkness. When a direct light is cast on them, they appear to dissipate like smoke. When they enter the mortal realm, they are only active at night. Under dim moonlight, they can sort of be seen as large smokey cougars who stalk their prey. They primarily feast on fear and can turn people into husks of themselves if they're scared and lost in the Shadowlands. Among the catfolk, they're believed to act as guardians at night to help boost the confidence of young kits and protect them. Elsewhere, they're feared and used as a reason to avoid wandering out alone at night.
