The modern capital of Galag Rok is Kabat. It's a large city of about 10,000 people. The city has been around for thousands of years and was first created as a fishing village. Since then, it's grown enormously. In particular, the area around the city is known for being very fertile unlike much of the rest of the island which is better suited to husbandry. It's a thriving city, and much of the architecture is still reminiscent of the old days. While everyone is allowed to live within the city walls, and most people do, kobolds are still banned from owning property. The city wall dates back over three thousand years and is massive. It's build to withstand sieges, and it's said that the walls of Kabat have never fallen. After the end of the Third Dragon War, Qunid was left in ruins. Kabat was far away and mostly spared from the destruction of the war, though the farmland was nearly entirely burned. As the dragonfolk recovered and started to rebuild, they settled on Kabat as the new capital due to its coastal location and being on the southern edge of the island, it was less likely to be attacked by people from Kos. The city is run by a branch of the national government. Notably, since the war, the city is very restrictive about foreigners. There aren't allowed past Bal Tonkath Boulevard. Most government buildings are within the zone that foreigners are allowed in. Previously, the city was occupied by all kinds of people, and they had relatively free movement so long as they had the proper papers to be in the city. The restriction was borne out of a fear of dissenters or malicious individuals trying to influence people in the city. The farms around the city are fairly open due to the difficulty in patrolling such a large area. Farmers frequently come in and out of the city, and they are granted special placards which allow them to enter without going through inspection. There's a city guard which is also a regiment in the army tasked specifically with maintaining order in the city.
