The Hallowed Knights are enchanted suits of armor that form the personal guard for the royal family of Dutan. They were created by the third king who allegedly had a necromancer for a younger brother. The suits are bound to a soul who controls them, and they were once the living honor guard before agreeing to be bound to serve the royal family for eternity. They can't be easily defeated, and they were constructed to be controlled like puppets. So long as the seals are intact, the soul is able to control each part of the suit no matter how far away they become. The only way to destroy it is to burn the primary seal away in magical fire.
