Cockatrices are half chicken, half serpent creatures that have a petrifying gaze to anyone who makes eye contact with it. They grow in strength and power by turning people into stone. Baby cockatrices look almost exactly like chickens but with a serpentine tail instead of feathers. However, as they turn more people into stone, they become more serpentine like until they're just a chicken head on a serpent body with scaly wings.
