Gorwin Apfel is a human wizard who has been in the service of the Amberhall family for the last 50 years. Even though he is seventy years old and walks with a bent back leaning heavily on his staff he is still quick-witted and clever. He tends to ask people to repeat themselves as he cannot hear very well.
