Omi
We didn't die, even when the palace desperately wanted us to.
Crushed by the waves of radiation that its own country destroyed it with, Omicron somehow managed to rebuild. But once it was rebirthed, it shed part of its name and took Omi to be its title.
Omicron
Edge City Omicron was never a favored sector to Wyntran nobility. Its people sparked uprising countless times. They were deeply distrusted for their close vicinity to Colmadin, and, as with all edge cities, they were largely (entirely) working-class.
Many in the government of Wyntra label the fall of Omicron as an inevitable. They attempt to justify their course of action - at least, some of them do. Others simply state that it was 'for the good of Wyntra' or something to that extent.
They really did have it coming for them.
Omicron, in its existence, also happened to be extremely close to the readily-harnessable radiation fields of Wyntra. The radiation fields that the palace promises are not to be used as an agent to control their own people. But the nobility is famous for their surplus of empty promises.
Chemical Warfare
There did, naturally, become a time when the monarchy saw fit to break their vows. Omicron, in its metals industry, was viewed as too much of a threat with too little productivity - in short, there had been another revolt. They had started to influence the surrounding areas - especially Gamma.
You want HOW many tonnes!?
Wyntra issued an order for a famously massive amount of nuclear power to be induced upon the city of Omicron, and so, it did exactly as they had intended. It absolutely devastated the province, killing many on impact and even more at a later point.
But sometimes, even with the alleged ingenuity and perfection of the Wyntran government's decision making and plans, things deviate from the expected path. Omicron's rebirth is one of these deviations.
Rebuilding
Few survived. But those few were left in shock and fury; shock and fury that they channelled into redeveloping their city. It was a small thing, but they soon managed to leverage their relationship with The Naughts into something that they could use to fight againt Wyntra's attempts at political custody of them.
Maybe it's lacking in creativity, but tack off the end and you get Omi...
Modern Day
Now, as a technical part of Colmadin, Omi is the home of one particular gang - the Cockroaches (named for their alleged, if untrue, immunity to radiation). This gang makes a habit of simple destruction. Ironically enough, they do the job of those who destroyed Omicron itself, making bombs and explosives both high and low level.
Connections
Throughout all their apparent misdemeanors, Wyntra was, in fact, correct when it came down Omicron's relationship with Colmadin. In truth, many of the less law-abiding residents of the province had powerful connections to Colmadin gangs - particularly the Naughts. This proved to be a significant factor in their ultimate withdrawal from the Wyntran political scheme.
